Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew said Cindy Townsend was gunned down Monday while trying to call 911 for help after Bobby Mercer, the owner of Indoor Comfort and Heating on Highway 79 North, had entered the business through a back door and fatally shot his estranged wife Amanda Mercer just outside the front door of the business. Bobby Mercer later turned the gun on himself.
The GoFundMe page says the tragedy leaves Cindy's three children without their mother, and leaves her husband without his wife.
The campaign's goal is to raise $15,000 by June 8 for the Townsend family to help with funeral and other expenses related to their loss.
