In February, the retail chain announced they would close two distribution facilities and up to 140 stores.
Friday's list includes three stores in Tennessee that will be closing, including one in Union City. Seven stores in Illinois and one in Missouri will also close, but none of them are close to our area. No stores in Kentucky will be affected.
Most of the affected stores will begin liquidation in April and close in June.
J.C. Penny said the closures would displace 5,000 workers. Some will receive transfer opportunities and some will not.
The chain will still operate nearly 900 stores.
