A Rutherford County pastor received probation after he tried to break into a church member's home to steal prescription painkillers.
The Tennessean reports Pastor Rickey Alan Reed could have faced four years in prison.
He told a Rutherford County judge on Friday that he acted in the throes of addiction and has since gotten help.
Reed was arrested after Jean Harris caught him on video trying to break into her home last summer.
Harris testified in court that she will probably never be able to trust another pastor.
She said she had to leave First Free Methodist Church after being a member for 55 years because other members shunned her for speaking to police.
Reed is now a part-time pastor at Living Faith Ministries and a pizza delivery man.
