West Tennessee Plane Crash Claims One Life

JACKSON - One person has died in a single-engine plane crash near the McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport in Jackson.

KYTN reports that Madison County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tom Mapes said the pilot radioed seeking guidance to land after reporting engine trouble. He said the plane crashed about a mile from the airport.

The plane was headed to Charles Baker Airport in Millington, having taken off from Dickson, about 30 miles west of Nashville.

The pilot’s identity wasn’t immediately released.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
