Rendek, Dr. John

Dr. (Coach) John Rendek, age 84, of Benton, KY and Olathe, KS, died at 8:55pm Monday at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital. He was born Oct. 9. 1928 in Brehy,Czechosloviaka to the late Steve and Rose Rendek. One brother and two sisters also preceded him in death. Coac Rendek was he first basketball coach at Christian County High School in 1959 when 5 local high schools consolidated, after having a very sucessfull tenure at Crofton High School. He later coached at Owensboro Catholic, Louisville Male, and the University of Tulsa, and was a sucessful business owner in Olathe, KS. He is a member of both KHSAA and the Christian County High School Hall of Fame due to his sucessful career as a coach. He was of the Catholic faith and a U.S Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. His is survived by two sons; Steve Rendek (Jennifer), of Houston, TX, and Dr. Tom Rendek, of Murray, KY four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He also shared aspecial friendship with Bob and GayleRogers of Murray, KY Services will be held at 5:00pm Wednesday at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home, with Father Jason McClure and Bob Rogers officiating. Burial will be held at a later time in Kansas City. Friends may viist from 3:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday at Blalock-Coleman & York.
