Everett LeRoy Mathus, 80yrs. of Hardin, KY died 1/18/19 at Bethany Healthcare in DeKalb, IL,

He was born 6/6/38 in Mt Vernon, IL to Roy and Fern (Weatherford, Mathus) Callais.

He married Bevelia H. Mathus who passed in 2001.

LeRoy, as he was known, retired from Powell Construction as a foreman. He enjoyed his many hobbies. He had several vegetable gardens that he would share the harvest from. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing guitar and singing old country songs. If he wasn’t fishing he could be found at the cabin (that he and his friend Wiley built) watching football or sitting on his porch swing with a sweet tea (or beer), a cigarette in hand and his little dog close by.

He is survived by his children, Mary Ann Mathus of Cortland, IL and Jason Lee Mathus of Calvert City, KY; Grandchildren, Brandon (Danielle) Skau, Bryan Skau (Kirsten Holt) and Blake Mathus; Great Grand Children, Spencer, Kaylee, Kaylan, and Damien Skau. His sisters, Mary Ann Smith of Dix, IL, and Margaret Williamson of, Alton, IL as well as numerous neices, nephews, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bevelia Mathus, his daughter Marie Rene Mathus, brothers Frank D. Decker, Curtis Mathus, and Mother Fern (Weathorford, Decker, Mathus) Callais.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025.

Interment will follow in the Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Collier Funeral Home.
