Herzog, Hazel

Hazel Elkins Lane Bechtold Herzog, 96, of Paducah passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at her home.

Mrs. Herzog retired from Western Baptist Dietary Department and was a 70 year member of Bellview Baptist Church. Her hobby was cleaning, cleaning, and cleaning, as well as being a loving Granny.

Hazel was born September 17, 1920 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to George W. and Etta Jane Baker Lane.

Hazel is survived by one son, Charles Willis Bechtold (Linda) of Paducah, three daughters, Hazel Bechtold Moyers Spears (Leon), Velma Bechtold Walker of LaCenter, Sherion Herzog Faughn of Boaz. Nine grandchildren, Kim Spears Jones (Rick), Charles Lynn Bechtold (Polly), David Grant Spears (Tina), Kathy Lynette Bechtold, (Donna) Stephen Lee Walker (Beth), Michael Wayne Bechtold, Melanie Walker McNeill (Chris), Natalie Faughn Harding (Bub), and Nancy Faughn Shelton (Ray). Three step-grandchildren Marsha Nichols, T. J. Moyers, and Trudy Hill (Randy). Nineteen great-grandchildren Adam Bechtold, Nicole Spears Allemang (Mark), Bobby Lee Spears, Chez Jones (Nikki), Quade Jones (Shea), Erica Harding (Matt), Keziah Gonzales (Carlos), Dylan Miller, Dean Bechtold, Cody Bechtold (Michal), Travis Bechtold (Lauren), Clayton Walker (Stacy), Olivia Shelton, Garrett Harding, Ashlynn Bechtold, Meghan Walker, Nicholas Shelton, Walker McNeill, Noah Shelton, and Whitson McNeill. Four great great-grandchildren Kaci Jones, Axton Spears, Lawson Spears, and Ryker Spears.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Bechtold; her second husband of 56 years, Grant Herzog; brothers Hoyt Lane, Solon Lane, Lannie Lane, Jack Lane, Sleet Lane, and Howard Lane; one sister Martha Riley; three son-n-laws Ruben Moyers, John H. Walker, and Gary Faughn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Bellview Baptist Church in Paducah with Dr. E. Lee James & Rev. Mike Nolen officiating. Burial will be at Herzog Cemetery in Paducah.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah, and after 10 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church.
