Joanne Farr, age 78 of Paducah, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 4:27 AM at her residence.

She was a graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School and Paducah Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She was a retired Registered Nurse from Honeywell Corp. formerly Allied-Signal in Metropolis, IL. Mrs. Farr was a member of First Baptist Church where she was the Co-editor of the Church Cookbook and Co-chaired the Nursing Home Flower Ministry. She was a member of the Salt Sunday School Class, a group of Christian praying women and an interpreter of the Deaf Chapel Class at FBC.

Joanne Farr was a charter member of the local American Association of Operating Room Nurses, a charter member of the local American Association of Occupation Health Nurses and a volunteer nurse at St. Nicholas Medical Clinic since 1997. She was an usher at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center, a member of the Paducah Ambassadors and a charter member and organizer of the Magnolia Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Farr is survived by her husband, William D.“Bill” Farr of Paducah, a daughter Sari Cathryn Carnes of Paducah and two sons Charles Evans Carnes and wife Kathi of Fernandina Beach, FL and Christopher Joe Carnes and wife Wanda of Paducah. She leaves behind two step-daughters Linda Farr Thompson and husband Jerry of Smithland and Lori Stivers and husband Tom of Paducah and three step sons, John Farr and wife Dr. Carla Farr of Paducah, Bob Farr and wife Becky of Paducah and Warren Farr of Paducah. Joanne Farr is survived by 9 grandchildren, Chad Thomas Carnes and wife Cass, Captain Corey Carnes and wife Amie, Brent Carnes, Brittany Carnes, Kyle Lake, Lee Anne Frizzell and husband Bobby, Ansley Lake, McLane Farr and Madison Farr and 9 great- grandchildren. She leaves behind one brother, Tom Emerson, Sr. of Paducah and a nephew, Tommy Emerson, Jr. of Paducah, two great nieces and many cousins in North Wales and Great Britian as well as several cousins stateside. Joann will be missed by her lifelong childhood friend, Lourice “Sis” Thompson of Paducah.

Mrs. Farr was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles A. Carnes and her parents Joe and Bessie Smith Evans and her sister-in-law Lodine Emerson.

Funeral Services for Joanne will be held Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Tommy Tucker and Rev. Lynn Shurley officiating and burial to follow at Brooks Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 PM Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
