Virginia O’Daniel Smith Roberts, 84, of Paducah, died Tuesday at 10:40 pm at Lourdes Hospital.

She was a retired nurse aid and a member of West End Baptist Church. Virginia was former president of American Legion Auxilliary and member of VFW and DAV.

Surviving are nine children, Barbara Grooms, Emma Freeman and Laura Schicker of Paducah,Gayle Cornes of Cross Plains, TN, Elta Diann Anderson of Symsonia, William Smith of Paducah, Donald Smith of Lockport, IL, Dennis Smith of St. Louis, and Ronald Smith of Wewahitchka, FL; step son, Jerry Roberts of Benton, KY; siblings, Barbara Roof, Eugene O’Daniel, and Orville O’Daniel all of Paducah, Robert O’Daniel of Deltona, FL, and Lawrence O’Daniel of Locust Grove, Virginia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. Her parents were Henry E. and Fannie Champion O’Daniel.

Memorial services will be held at 1pm Friday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Larry Lindsey officiating with urn burial to follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Memorial visitation will begin at 11am Friday at the funeral home.
