Mr. John R. Flynn, age 79, of Murray, Kentucky, died Tuesday, July 03, 2012 at the West Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Kentucky.

He was a retired roofer for Swift Roofing; He was a Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars; He was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

He was born in Sterling, Illinois on April 3, 1933 to the late Paul Flynn and Adeline D. Felsman Hall.

He is survived by his wife Ruth L. Jeroleman Flynn of Murray, Kentucky, in whom he married September 18, 1960 in Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, Teri Louise Kothrea and husband Curt of Vienna, Ohio; one step daughter, Betty Faye Phelps of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one son, David R, Flynn and wife Mary of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Karen P. Flynn and Patty Hooper and husband Jerry both of Tucson, Arizona; three brothers, Kenneth Flynn and wife Judy, Errol Flynn and wife Mary, and Jerry Flynn all of Tucson, Arizona; three grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Rob Ison will officiate.
