Marie Childers
Ada Marie Childers, 98, of Metropolis, Illinois was born on May 14, 1917 and passed away on April 30, 2016 at Metropolis Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Larry Lunsford will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Marie worked for many years at the Good Luck Glove Factory, was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She loved her church and church family at the Lighthouse Assembly of God.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Margie Reynolds and husband Richard; son, Col. William W. Childers and wife Kathy; four grandchildren, Nathan Reynolds and wife Brenda, Margo Moyer and husband Wayne, Aaron Childers and wife Christine, and Trevor Childers; seven great grandchildren; one brother, John Davidson and wife Genevieve; one sister-in-law, Lydia Corzine; several nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Louella (Fletcher) Davidson; her husband of 64 years, William H. Childers; 2 brothers, Clifford and D.C. Davidson; two sisters, Dorothy Davidson and Ila Mae Heflin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 10 am until 12 noon at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Assembly of God, 670 Airport Road, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.
Pallbearers will be William Lauderdale, Robert Potterbaum, Jesse Goines, Ronnie McNichols, Dennis Lingle, and Sherman Shelby.
