Ann Laird, age 63 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 4:15 am on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Massac Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Rev. Frank Forthman Jr. will officiate.
Ann was a member of the Wesley Chapel and the Massac County Historical Society. She volunteered at the Metropolis Public Library; spoke at the encampment for many years; helped a college professor from SIU Carbondale with history research on old houses in Massac, Johnson, and Pope Counties; and was a former member of the Massac County Genealogical Society.
Ann is survived by her husband of 46 years, John D. Laird; daughter, Ginger Meeker and husband Michael; son, Jackie Laird; grandchildren, Seth Meeker and Chelsie Meeker; sisters, Elaine Manley and husband Jim and Brenda Cohoon, all of Metropolis, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Ruth (Adams) Borem; brother, Donald Borem; an infant brother; brother-in-law, Larry Cohoon.
