Mrs. Helen Mae Windhorst, age 87, of Metropolis, IL, formerly of Orland Park, IL, passed away on August 21, 2016 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Ron Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Windhorst was a member of the 32nd Street Church of Christ in Paducah, KY.
Helen is survived by four children, Pat Windhorst and wife Pam of Metropolis, Mike Windhorst and wife Jan of Gainsville, GA, Tim Windhorst of Orland Park, IL, and Susan Windhorst of Metropolis; five grandchildren Patrick Windhorst and wife Holly and Parker Windhorst and wife Jessica all of Metropolis, Hank Windhorst and wife Kristin of Atlanta, GA, Emily Wisdom and husband Jonathan of Brisbane, Australia, and Mariah Windhorst of Metropolis; seven great grandchildren, Lucy and Leo Windhorst, Walt and Jemma Windhorst, Ward and Annie Windhorst, and Nathan Wisdom. She is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Lillie and Linda Smallman and husband John all of Metropolis and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Edward and Grace Maria (Anderson) Jackson; one son, Keith Windhorst; her husband of almost 65 years, Leonard Charles Windhorst; one brother-in-law, Raymond Lillie; and nephew, Tony Lillie.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
