Jaunita Dillworth Harned was born on her Uncle Pete Dillworth’s farm in Ballard Co. on January 8th, 1930 in the middle of a snow storm. She was surrounded by family then and has been ever since.

Jaunita was Roman Catholic and a 3rd generation member of St. Francis De Sales Church in Paducah, Ky. Her mother, Mary Saffer Dillworth was from a large German Catholic family. Her father, John T. Dillworth came from a large farming family.

Her childhood was during the depression and World War II. They were extremely poor during the depression living in a converted chicken house on her aunt’s farmat the top of Nolan Drive. After the depression they lived on Clark’s River Road where her father grew crops for Yopp Seed Co. All of her brothers, Milton, Joe, and Tommy fought in WWII. Milton died in the south Pacific.

In January of 1947 she married George W. Harned and they were together until George died in 1992. They worked as a team always. They have seven children, Sharon, Debra, George Jr., Susan, Steven, Larry, and Phillip. They have five grandchildren, Brittany & Samantha (George Jr.) Patrick (Susan), and Emme & Halle (Phillip). She and Daddy raised their children to respect their elders, work and to be individuals. They attended their children’s school functions, ball games and plays. And with 7 children it was time difficult but they managed. At one time they had 3 boys playing on 3 different Khoury League fields. They put their lawn chairs in the middle and watched all three games.

Jaunita worked at the Florsheim Shoe Co. for 15 years. When it closed she worked for Servicemaster cleaning the Paducah Bank in Reidland and other buildings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Harned; her parents, John T. and Mary V. Dillworth; her sister, Judy Dillworth Clark; her three brothers, George Milton, Joseph Wayne, and John Thomas Dillworth; and her son, Steve Harned.
