Mr. Joey Carnell Lawson, age 82 of Dexter, KY died on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at his home. He was retired from the Peoria Sanitary District and was a member of Hardin Church of Christ. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and member of the CB Club.
Born Monday, May 18, 1936 in Benton, KY, he was the son of the late Emmett Lawson and the late Mayme (Smith) Lawson.
Surviving are son, Christopher Springhill, TN, daughter, Veronica Lawson of Dexter, KY, brother, Merle Lawson of Congerville, IL, sisters, Norma Jean Deering of Murray, KY and Janice Soloman of Peoria, IL, grandchildren, Ashley Briggs, Hannah Lawson, Tristan Stacks, great-grandchildren, Austin Briggs, Trenton Briggs, Drew Briggs, great-great grandchild, Greyson Oliver Briggs, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 51 years, Glenda Fay (Johnston) Lawson, brother, Robert Lawson, and sister, Faye Walker.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Chris Lyden officiating.
Entombment will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens, Murray, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
