Linda Kay St. John, 69, of Metropolis passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Metropolis Nursing Home.

Born December 8, 1946 to Jesse O, and Elsie St. John.

Linda graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1965. She worked several jobs during high school including a cashier at a supermarket. 

She has one son, Paul (Lisa) Steffen. She had 2 sisters, Nancy (Butch) Reavis, Ozark, Illinois and Donna (Ray) Fawcett, St. George, Utah. She had one grandchild and 3 great grandchildren.
Her trusted and loyal toy poodle, Hank, was a joy to her life.

She held jobs in retail stores and as a file clerk for an industrial facility. She attended Rock Valley College in Janesville, Wisconsin and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree. She attended the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater, Wisconsin, graduating with Honors with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in 1977 in the area of Special Education and Early Childhood Studies. She attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, graduating with a Master of Science in Education Degree in 1980 in Special Education. She also attended Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois, Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois.

Linda began her teaching career in Beloit, Wisconsin, teaching a summer school program. She worked for Rockton School District #140 from 1977-1995, NSSEO in Mt. Prospect from 1995-1996 and for JAMP Special Education Co-op in Metropolis, Illinois from 1996-2006. She retired in July 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
