Nina Mills Obituary
Nina Bess Mills, age 85, passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN, on March 30, 2018.
Nina was born May 2, 1932, in Pope County, Illinois to Ray L. Wagner and Grace (Rigor) Wagner. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as by her husband of 42 years Curtis Robert Mills, her sisters Freda and Evelyn, and brothers Loren, Emerson, Lewis, and Kenneth.
Nina is survived by her brother John, two children, Ronald James Mills of Columbus, Ohio and Carolyn (Mills) Strickland of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Nina grew up in Pope County, IL where she went to school and graduated from Golconda High School. After graduating, Nina was married in November 1950 and focused on the family in Joppa, Illinois. They lived in the Joppa community for approximately 40 years. In 1994, she moved to Nashville, TN.
Nina loved working in the garden, tending to flowers, and cooking for the family. She found beauty and joy while watching seasons change, nature bloom, birds sing, and children grow. She was compassionate, loving, funny, and hard working. She loved spending time with family whether on vacation or during brief visits. She always made sure the smallest among us received care, attention, and love.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis, IL with a private graveside service following at the IOOF cemetery in Golconda, IL.
