Orland L. Gray, 91, of the Massac Community died at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday,May 2, 2012 at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.
Mr. Gray was a retired maintenance director of the Paducah Off-Price Mall. He was a former employee of Union Carbide and was formerly a farmer. He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving as a tech corporal in the 10th armored division, 20th AIB, Company C. He served as the company bugler while stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., and served in the European Theatre and the Battle of the Bulge. He was the former chaplain of American Legion Post 06 of Hanson and a member of American Legion Post 31 of Paducah. He was a member of Massac United Methodist Church where he served as songleader.
He is survived by three daughters, Ilene Pierce of Olive Branch, Illinois; Donna Fondren of Capron, Oklahoma and Sandra Bagwell of Paducah; one stepson, Joe Mitchell of Benton; two brothers, Oneal Gray and Olen Gray, both of Capron, Oklahoma; two sisters Reta Jackson of Alva, Oklahoma and Nellie Hill of Adrian, Missouri; one aunt, Levina Jackson of Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Marshall Gray; his parents, George and Nellie Gray and one sister, Neta Kimbrel.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with John Smithmier and Sam Beeny officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
