Patricia Rhea Dycus Callender passed away peacefully in Concord Township, Ohio, on June 4, 2017.

Patty grew up in Smithland, Kentucky and after graduating from Livingston Central High School, attended the University of Kentucky where she was accepted as a sister in Delta Delta Delta sorority and met her husband, James. After living in Union City, Tennessee and Madison, Indiana, in 1977 Patty and Jim made a home in Ohio, raising their two boys.  She was involved and active with numerous civic, charitable, and political organizations in each town she lived in.

Patty was a sculptor of porcelain dolls, a jewelry designer and avid traveler throughout her life. Patty loved her dogs, and they always had a special place in her heart.

Patty was many things to many people, but the role that was most special to her was as “Mynie” to her grandchildren.  As their grandmother, Mynie doted on each one of them. She was so proud of them, and she knew how to make each one of their accomplishments even more special. Mynie knew how to make celebrations and holidays more fun, and she created unique Callender traditions that brought the whole family together. She will be sorely missed.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Doris Daigle and Julia Dycus, and brother Billy Westberry. She is survived by her husband, James Sutton Callender, her sons James II and Ryan (Kristin), along with her grandchildren Ashley (Michael) Garcar, James III, Meghan, Carter and Jackson; and one sister, Vickie Dycus McGee.

A graveside service and burial will be held at the Smithland Cemetery in Smithland, Kentucky on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Smithland.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 7876 St Clair Ave, Cleveland, OH 44110, or the McCracken County, Kentucky Humane Society, 4000 Coleman Road, Paducah, KY  42001.
