Campbell, Carolyn
Carolyn Sue (Henson) Campbell, age 74, went to her reward of Heaven on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at her home.
Born January 12, 1938, she was the wife of Rev. Alan C. Campbell, husband for 51 years, and mother two daughters, Debbie Knight and Cindy Cambell, both of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Greg Campbel and wife Michelle of Mattoon, IL, and Scott Cambell and wife Contessa stationed at Scott Air Force Base near St.Louis, MO; and the grandmother of Lindsey, Courtney, Michal, Scott B., Davis James, and Isabella Rose Campbell; and the great-grandmother of Anna Marie Cambpell.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Frankfort, IN and graduated from Kokomo, IN high school. She also graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in elementary education, which she used for teaching in public schools for 35 years.
When she was 16, she was born again and began a life of serving God with zeal and joy of encouraging others to love and serve her Lord. She spent years serving in childrens’s summer camps, Vacation Bible Schools, visitation teams, and taught Sunday School for 50 years. She was a Nazarene pastor’s wife for 35 years until she and Alan chose to retire in the Murray area near her only living sister, Bonnie Orr, and brother-in-law, Vester Orr, Jr.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1200 West Broadway, in Mayfield, KY. Her ashes will be scattered at a later date in the Pacific Ocean.
In lieu of flowers, Sue requested contributions be made to Nazarene Missions International, 17001 Prarie Star Parkway, Lenexa, KS 66220; or the Murray-Calloway County Hospice, 803 Poplar Street, Murray, KY 42071; or the First Church of the Nazarene, 1200 W. Broadway, Mayfield, KY 42066.
Arrangements are being handled by Imes-Miller Funeral Home and Crematory.
