Mr. Van Layton Futrell, age 66, of Murray, KY died at 4:40pm Saturday at his home. He was born Dec. 3,1945 in Model, TN to the late Walter Almo (Dick) Futrell and Ruby (Henson) Futrell. His sister; Grace Howard also preceded him in death. Mr. Futrell was a retired Lt. Colonel with the U.S. Army and a farmer. He was a graduate of UT @ Martin and Murray State University where he obtained his master's degree. He is survived by three sons;Jon T. Futrell (Kari), of Murray, KY, Darby Futrell (Heather), of Benton, KY, and Nathan Futrell (Melissa), ofNorth Carolina, two brothers; Bill Futrell (Sharon), of Fairdealing, KY, and Dempsey Futrell (Mary) of Symsonia, KY, six grandchildren; Corey Futrell, Cody Futrell, Downs Mayfield, Dawson Futrell, Dayton Futrell, and Dayli Gail Futrell, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday at BLALOCK-COLEMAN & YORK FUNERAL HOME, with Bro. Billy Sizemore officiating. Entombment will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with military honors. Friends may visit from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday at BLALOCK-COLEMAN & YORK FUNERAL HOME.
