He was retired from Westvaco and formerly worked for the GM & O Railroad and Milner & Orr Funeral Homes. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a proud member of the Burkley Giants Baseball (Twin States League) team in his youth. Bennett was a member of Hardin Baptist Church and a former Deacon and songleader at Mississippi Baptist Church.
Bennett Thomason is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Campbell Thomason, one daughter, Benita Davis and husband Jeff of Cunningham and one son, Bob Thomason and wife Diana of Gilbertsville. He leaves behind four granddaughters, Wendy Wilson and husband Brandon, Brooke Kelly and husband Scotty, Sanda Fisher and husband Brandon and Leandra Thomason. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, Kase, Knox, Crew, Rhodes and Graedy Kelly, Hudson, Roxie, Esther and Abraham Wilson, Cambell and Ford Fisher and his sister-in-law Carrie Mae Thomason of Paducah and niece Janice Clark and husband Garry of Paducah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cornell and Gazel Jones Thomason, daughter-in-law Lesia Thomason, brother F.A. Thomason and a great-grandson Grae Davis Kelly.
Funeral services for Bennett Thomason will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Bro. Ricky Miller and Bro. Ricky Cunningham officiating and burial in Roselawn Cemetery in Bardwell, Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
