Edwin W. "Dub" Thorn, age 79 of Benton, KY passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. He was a 50 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181. He was also a member of Hardin Church of Christ. Mr. Thorn loved gardening, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Born Monday, June 8, 1936 in Aurora, KY, he was the son of the late Carlie Thorn and the late Grace Mildred (Lee) Thorn.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis (Coppage) Thorn of Benton, KY; son, Rev. Joe Daryl Thorn, wife Kathy of Brownsville, TN, daughter, Bridgette McCuiston, husband Jerry of Benton, KY, brothers, Jerry Thorn of Aurora, KY and Bobby Thorn of Hardin, KY, sisters, Janice McGregor of Olive Branch, MS and Mary Keats of Dover, TN; grandchildren, Aaron Thorn of Benton, KY, Zachary Thorn of Cunningham, KY, Kris DeMyer of Merom, IN, Kevin DeMyer of Kevil, KY, Tommy Dethridge of Paducah, KY, Peyton McCuiston and Taylor McCuiston both of Benton, KY; great grandchildren, Landen Thorn of Benton, KY, and Lucy and Trudy Thorn of Cunningham, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Bobbye Jo Thorn; brothers, Billy Joe Thorn and William Thorn, and sister, Nell Collins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Rev. Joe Daryl Thorn and David Smith officiating.
Interment will follow the service in the Middle Fork Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
