Elsie Mae Beardsley, age 85 of Bardwell, died Friday March 8, 2019 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Ky.

 

In 1971 Elsie married her husband John L. Beardsley, and they moved to Orlando, Florida.  They soon opened their first business, Honest John’s grocery.  In 1976 they moved back to Carlisle County and together they owned and operated Honest John’s Auto Sales, which later became John L.’s Auto Sales.  While working in the auto business, she traveled to many states for General Motors.  She would call on various dealers, offering help with their accounting.  She was a member of Bardwell Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Melissa Blackwell and husband Ricky of Cunningham, Joyce Burgess and husband Joe of Bardwell, Judy Wollas and husband George of Franklin, Tennessee and two sons, Don Beardsley and wife Sandy of Bardwell and Dale Beardsley of East Palatka, Florida.  She leaves behind nine grandchildren, Kim Hickerson and husband Todd of Bardwell, Eric Beardsley of East Palatka, Florida, Brandon Beardsley and wife Lauren of St. Augustine, Florida, Ashlea Hogancamp and husband Matt of Franklin, Tennessee, Hailey Blackwell of Paducah, Allison Blackwell of Cunningham, Mike Mantle and wife Jackie of Bardwell, Julie Woods and husband Max of Hickory, Lisa Adams and husband Joey of Bardwell.  She is survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. 

 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John L. Beardsley, her parents, Clarence and Lela Bell Forgey and one granddaughter, Lesia Thomason.   Preceding Elsie were her three sisters, Roxie McChristian, Mary Elizabeth Black and Louise Thomas and her five brothers, Mac Gay, C.P. Forgey, Harry Forgey, Herbert Forgey and Glen Forgey.

 

Funeral services for Elsie Beardsley will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Rev. Rodney Bice officiating and burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm Monday evening, March 11, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
