Geneva “Lala” Mullican Thomason, age 94 of Olympia, Washington, previously of Burkley, Kentucky, passed away on August 9, 2018 in Olympia, Washington. Lala, as she was known to her friends and family, was born in the house built by her maternal grandfather on Spetember 7, 1924 in Burkley. She worked in the Burkley school cafeteria, at a diner in St. Louis, Missouri, and at Garan Clothing Factory in Clinton.
Lala is survived by her son-in-law, John Cornette of Olympia, Washington; one grandson, Jess Cornette (Bari Mandelbaum) of Santa Clara, California; two great-grandsons, Haley Julian and Lior Justin of Santa Clara, California; and a cousin, Jim McPherson of Arlington.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Loretia Thomason Cornette who passed away on May 30th of this year. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Dean Ellis Cornette and her only sister, Lola Hite.
A graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Burkely Cemetery in Burkley, Kentucky with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
