Iwana Leneave Bone, age 88, of Bardwell, Ky, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2015 at her niece’s home in Ava, Mo. She moved to Bardwell from Puxico, MO in 1944. She worked several jobs beginning at the Rock House Bus Stop where she sold hamburgers on the buses. She also worked at the lock factory, the dime store, Dr. Bracken’s office, and then West Ky Allied Services for thiry years. She joined Bardwell Baptist Church in 1944 where she worked as church clerk and taught Sunday School for the junior girls, the little ones, and later the senior women. She belonged to Eastern Star since she was eighteen years old, was once Worthy Matron and held other offices. She received an Honorary Paducah Dutchess Award and a Job Corp Award. Ms. Iwana was also a member of the Carlisle County Homemakers where she taught sewing. She was a member of the Library Board, the Senior Citizens Board, and a member of the Senior Citizens Kitchen Band.
She is survived by her daughter, Bettie Curry and husband, Tim of Springhill, FL; her brother, William “Billy” Hodge Leneave of Chicago; three grandchildren, Zach, Christopher, and Sunny; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Adam Bone; her parents, William Hodge Leneave and Erma Corinne Colson; her son, Pike Bone; her sister, Katherine Jackson; and her brother, Howell Leneave.
Services for Mrs. Bone will be held at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell on Saturday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney Bice officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn cemetery. Visitaion will be held at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015.
