Jack B. Smith, age 94, of Symsonia, Kentucky passed away February 3, 2020 at Ray and Kay Eckstein Center in Paducah.

He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII on the USS Abner Reed in the Philippines. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and an active member of Symsonia Baptist Church.  Jack loved anything with a motor and wheels.  He built and raced Go Karts and stock cars.  He and his brother Hamp, were an early version of “Neighborhood Watch”.  Every night they drove through the area making sure everything was safe.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Jack B. Smith is survived by a daughter, Connie McManus and husband Donnie of Symsonia and a son Jackie Smith of Symsonia.  He leaves behind four grandchildren: Jamie Adkins and husband Keith of Auburn, AL; Jodi Butler and husband Greg of Murray; Danielle Smith  and Andrew Smith both of Seattle, WA and seven great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Cade and Jonah Butler; Ava, Bennett and Blaire Adkins; and Sophie Booten.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Boyd Smith, his parents John Henry and Susie Smith and a brother John Hampton “Hamp” Smith.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Filbeck- Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr with Rev. Rick Miller officiating and burial to follow at Feezor Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home.
