James “Jim” Baker, age 75, of Arlington passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at his home. 

 

Mr. Baker was born on June 25, 1945 to the late James and Sarah Baker.  He was married for 29 years to Sheila Baker.  Jim was retired from his career at General Tire.

 

Jim attended Arlington First Baptist Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Local Steel Workers Union.  He was an avid UK Basketball Fan and loved hunting, especially ‘coon hunting’.  Jim was a talented musician and member of the “Laid Back Band” and he enjoyed playing and listening to country music.  Jim loved kids, and through this devotion he was able to coach his little league baseball team into the Little League World Series.  His greatest joy was to watch his son and grandson play baseball.

 

Jim is survived by his wife, Sheila Morris Baker; three sons, Scott Baker and wife, Christy of Marshall County, Joe Gamble of Milburn, and Dustin Oliver of Milburn; one daughter, Shelia Gamble Thomas and husband Michael of Metropolis, IL; one brother, Mickey Lynn Baker of Fancy Farm; his grandchildren, Austin Gamble, Quincy Gamble, Faith Gamble, Jase Baker, Luke Gamble and Jon Oliver; and three great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley West Moravits.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Rev. David Sphinx and Rev. Max Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Milburn Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the 2:00 pm service time on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.

 

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donation to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
