Joyce Marie Dunn 83, of Arlington, KY, found peace on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Beloved daughter of James and Alta Goode Sims and Edwin Tibbs, Joyce was born November 22, 1934.
Wife, Sister, Daughter, Mother, Grand and Great-Grandmother, Joyce was a West KY Association Pianist, served as Deputy PVA and a Homemaker who also supported her husband in business endeavors. She was devoted to her family and a loyal friend whose beautiful smile and true joy could be heard in her contagious laugh.
A resident of Carlisle Co., she was deeply involved in her church and community. As an active member of Arlington First Baptist Church, Joyce served as Organist, Sunday School Teacher, event organizer and key figure in Children’s Bible Drill. A director of Women’s Missionary Union she enjoyed travel with fellow Jolly Seniors of the church. Annual supporter of Relay for Life, her love and generosity was a gift to those around her.
Today those who knew and love her mourn her loss and find solace that her suffering has forever ended and eternal joy has begun.
Joyce is survived by brother, Bob Sims and his wife Jenny of Mayfield, 2 children, daughter Donna Lynn Cooksey of Paducah and son Rudy Dwayne Dunn of Arlington. 6 grandchildren, Jaime Lynn, Aaron Blaine, Devon Rhea, Ragan Nichole, Amber Rochelle, and Joy Diane. 6 great-grand children, James Lee Dalton, Aubree Lynn, Ella Rhea, Natalie Nichole Kathleen, Emmett Jack, and Emma Grace.
She was preceded in death by Granville Lynn Dunn, husband of 64 years, daughter Joy Rhea Treece, brother Wayne Tibbs, parents James and Alta Goode Sims and father Edwin Tibbs.
Visitation in her honor to begin Saturday, July 14, 11AM with 2PM Service @ Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Arlington, KY. Burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery.
