Ms. Karen O’Daniel, 71 of Hardin, KY passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, peacefully at her home due to natural causes.

Born January 18, 1949 in San Diego, CA, she was the daughter of the late Dennis Robert Rayman and Stella May (Dysart) Reed of Murray, KY.

A good, kind soul, Karen was gifted in the kitchen, garden, on the violin/viola, and was a dedicated teacher. She was a thoughtful and generous friend, loved by all-including her very important chickens and cats, Lily and Pretty Boy.

A good deal of her life was spent in San Diego where she was admired for her teaching skills and for her excellent violin playing with various duo’s, trio’s and string quartets.  She was happiest when boogie boarding at Torrey Pines beach and beautifully playing chamber music with her many friends.

Graduating from Murray State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Music Performance Degree, she was named String Project Director for Violin/Viola and Cello at Murray State University. She also taught the Adult Ensemble and was a member of the Murray String Quartet. Karen had a full studio of promising violin and viola students that filled the sections of Murray State University Symphony Orchestra.  She will be sorely missed by all.

Surviving are daughters, Tina Marie (Brandon) Tolle of Beverly Hills, FL and Alicia Deanne Huber of San Diego, CA; grandchildren Alexis Rios and Riley Tolle, great grandchild Brady Dawson.

She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Sheila Williams and brother, Ronnie Rayman.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Murray State University Music Department, Murray State, Office of Development, 200 Heritage Hall, Murray, KY 42071. All checks must be made payable to Murray State University Foundation.
