Samuel Peyton Kendall, 78, formerly of Cunningham, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

 

He was the son of William Edward Burnett and Katie Lee Raburn Kendall, born February 14, 1940 in Marshall County, Kentucky.  He spent most of his life in South Florida and was a graduate of North Miami Senior High, Class of 1958.  He was a Journeyman Electrician by trade and a Mason.  Peyton was an avid race car driver.  He actually (with a friend) built Dragster race cars.  He started racing a 1940 something Ford at Daytona Beach and won nearly every week-end in some category.  He also raced one year at Indianapolis, Indiana using a dragster or “Funny Car” he built.  He later spent many hours on the Ham Radio as his hobby.

 

He is survived by one sister, Mary Louise Kendall Blackwell of Elgin, Illinois; sons, Timothy Kendall of Miami, Florida and James Kendall of Homestead, Florida; six nieces and one nephew.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie Eloise Pierce Harrison; brothers, William Vernon Kendall, Sr. and Edward Burnett Kendall; nephew, William Earl Harrison and niece, Stephanie Kendall.

 

Services for Mr. Kendall will be on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Rev. Bill Roberts officiating.  Burial will follow in Elsey Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 11:30 a.m.
