Rev. Wilson E. McWherter, 84 of Benton, KY died on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Mercy Health Lourdes in Paducah, KY. Rev. McWherter pastored in many different towns, including Benton, KY, Clinton, KY, Grayson, KY, Cadiz, KY, Eddyville, KY, and Ava, IL. He also worked in maintenance at KY Dam Village State Park, Liersiergler Factory, and Holly Carborater Plant in Paris, TN. Born Wednesday, September 29, 1935 in Dresden, TN, he was the son of the late Otha Wilbert McWherter and the late Mary Pearl (Insco) McWherter. He is survived by his sons, Michael McWherter of Union City, TN, Lynn McWherter wife Tammy of Benton, KY; daughters, Kathy Klatt husband Tom of Benton, KY, Linda Polletta husband Ed of Demotte, IN; brothers, Aaron McWherter of Puryear, TN, Reuben McWherter of Paris, TN; sisters, Barbara Jean Crittenden of Dickson, TN, Mary Jo Matheny of Paris, TN; 9 grandchildren, Chris McWherter wife Brooke, Ricky McWherter wife Abbey, Tony McWherter wife Jamie, Seth McWherter wife Rebecca, Tim Klatt wife Angel, Rebekah Thornton husband Ryan, Janessa Abbott husband Justin, Jonathan McWherter wife Abby, Katherine Hughes husband Josh; and 10 great grandchildren, Bodie McWherter, Kaydence McWherter, Idgie McWherter, Bentley McWherter, Abel McWherter, Rylan McWherter, Quinn McWherter, Jayden McWherter, Tessa Klatt and Griffen Klatt. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 57 years, Mary Barbara (Johnson) McWherter; son, Jerry Lynn McWherter; brother, Wesley Green; and great grandson, Camden McWherter. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with the Rev. Lynn McWherter officiating. Interment will be in Jolly Springs Cemetery, Dresden, TN at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Collier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to H.O.P.E Clinic, P.O.
