Benton, KY | Dec. 15, 1955 | Dec. 30, 2019

Mrs. Betty Jean (Jones) Tolbert, age 64 of Benton, KY passed away Monday, December 30, 2019, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY.

Born Thursday, December 15, 1955 in Paducah, KY, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Russell Jones and Betty Jo (Stout) Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Cratis H. Tolbert II, Benton, KY;  one son, David Groves of Calvert City, KY, two daughters, Dusti (Groves) Lamb of Benton, KY and Shelley (Tolbert) Noles, husband Jon of Benton, KY; one brother, Jimmy Jones of Mound City, IL; one sister, Susie Reaney of Calvert City, KY; seven grandchildren, Mikayla (Groves) Dangerfield, Memory Groves, Audrey Noles, Jack Noles, Lauren Noles, Preston Lamb and Peyton Lamb.

Betty Jean was a 1973 graduate of Meridian High School in Mounds, IL and a 2002 graduate of MidContinent University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership.

Her greatest joy in life was her family and she loved them with everything she had. She became a Mimi on her 42nd birthday with the arrival of Mikayla. As each grandchild was born, her heart grew immeasurably until the Grand 7 was complete with the birth of Lauren on Papa’s 65th birthday.

Mrs. Betty was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith was unshakable and her motto was “Let your faith be bigger than your fear.” She truly lived out her faith daily, loving unconditionally and forgiving always.

Her love language was undeniably acts of service; she had the truest giving spirit. She shared and gave without hesitation or obligation. She never met a stranger, and once you were a friend, you were a friend forever. She was the most talented and creative woman, from catering beautiful weddings, designing Disney shirts, to fixing anything from leaky faucets to broken hearts.

Disney was her happy place and she made a million “wishes” in Magic Kingdom over the years. She loved the thrill of Main Street USA, but it paled in comparison to the awe she experienced when she was welcomed through the pearly gates.
