Mrs. Betty Jo Howard, age 88, of Paducah, KY passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 10:25 a.m. at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY.
Born Sunday, January 26, 1930 in Benton, KY, she was the daughter of the late Milburn Houser and the late Reba (Meyers) Houser Washburn. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, home maker, seamstress, gardener, and avid reader. She was a faithful member of Reidland Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher and Church Librarian. She was devoted to her fellow class members in the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her husband of almost 68 years, Ray Douglas Howard of Paducah, KY and two daughters, Peggy Susan Howard of Paducah, KY and Lucinda Howard Mitchell (Harvey) of Harrodsburg, KY. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Matthew Douglas Mitchell (Cassie) of Harrodsburg, KY and Rebecca Mitchell Sims (Christopher) of Prosper, TX as well as four great grandchildren, Coleman Douglas Mitchell, Greyson Lee Mitchell, Noah Mitchell Sims and Lily Hart Sims.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Billy Ray Jones.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Rev. Rob Ison will officiate. Interment follows the service in the Briensburg Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Friends may visit with the family after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday June 16, 2018 until the funeral hour at 3:00 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
