Buel Ernest Stalls Jr., 71, of Murray, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at his home.

Buel was born on April 26, 1944 in Murray to the late Buel E. and Mildred McDaniel Stalls. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, downtown Murray and a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1964-1970. Buel was instrumental in the establishment of the Delta Nu Chapter of Kappa Alpha order, a social fraternity at Murray State University. He served in various capacities in the chapter including president of West Ky Alumni Association for several years, as well as, an investment advisor. Between 1967-1968, Buel, a self admitted lifelong political junkie, was offered a chance of a lifetime. He was part of the team that worked to have New York U.S. Sen Robert F. Kennedy elected president of the United States of America. Buel was given the job of being an advance man for the campaign. He was also on the National Board of Lupus Foundation.

In addition to his involvement in his church and community Buel served for over thirty years as a dedicated and devoted member of the Murray Lions Club. He was secretary of the club for over twenty years and was the first Murray Lion to ever serve as president of the club on two occasions during its seventy-five year history. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow and received an International President's Certificate of Appreciation. Buel always enjoyed soliciting items for the club's auction and he was actively doing that until he was physically unable to continue. His fellow Lions and friends will truly miss his exemplary service to the club, community and especially his friendship.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Newsome and two sisters-in-law, Linda Newsome and Marilyn Newsome.

Mr. Stalls is survived by a special friend, Janet Adams of Murray; three brothers, Ray Newsome (Edith) of Paris, TN; Fred Stalls (Linda) of Almo; Mike Stalls (Nancy) of Hopkinsville a sister, Dianne Jessen (Sam) of San Antonio, TX, and was a blessing and mentor to 22 nieces and nephews.
