Daph McGregor
Mrs. Daphina Jean (Thompson) McGregor, age 91 of Benton, KY died on Monday, January 22, 2018, at Lake Way Nursing & Rehabilitation in Benton, KY, while surrounded by her family.
Born Wednesday, September 22, 1926 in Marshall County, KY, she was the daughter of the late John Marshall Thompson and the late Evelyn (Gibson) Thompson.
Daph was a graduate of Benton High School, class of 1945. She was an active member of New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, Benton, KY for over 67 years where she served as secretary/treasurer of her Sunday School Class, "The Willing Workers" for many of those years.
She was a homemaker and a retired factory worker and floral designer. She was an avid seamstress and quilter, and loved working outside in her yard and flower and vegetable gardens. Above all, she was a "Super Mom."
Surviving are her two sons, Larry Don McGregor, wife Dee of Benton, KY and Terry Brooks McGregor, wife Vicki of Benton, KY, grandchildren, Molly Eubanks, husband Mark, Josh McGregor, wife Vanessa, Justin McGregor, wife Shelley all of Benton, KY and Jonathan McGregor, wife Liz of Paducah, KY, and great-grandchildren, Hayden and Karsen Eubanks, Mia and Miles McGregor and Brody McGregor all of Benton, KY, and Charley, Brooks and Anny McGregor of Paducah, KY. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Donald Brooks McGregor, her parents, sister, Lourelle Cole, and brothers, Bill Thompson and Jack G. Thompson.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Richie Slack, Rev. Van Russell and Rev. Roy Gibson officiating.
Interment will follow in Marshall Co. Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home.
