David Lampkins, 66, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away at his home and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 30, 2015, at 4:10 P.M.  

David was born in Paducah, KY, on November 6, 1948, to Dewey Lampkins, Jr. and Imogene Dulaney Lampkins. He graduated from Murray High School in 1968. David graduated from Lindsey Wilson University with a degree in Business Administration.  He  graduated from Campbellsville University in 1972 with a degree in Marketing Education.  At Murray State University, he received his Masters Degree in Education and his 30+ in Administration Supervision and Coordination of Vocational Education.  In 2014, he retired as an English as a Second Language Teacher at MSU after nine years.   David also retired from teaching in Marshall County in 2004 where he taught business and Distributive Education classes at Marshall County Technical School for 34.5 years. He was awarded for 33 years of exceptional service and dedication to the Kentucky Association of DECA.   He served as a Region I DECA Chairman.  His marketing classroom served as a pilot site for the development of the Kentucky Retail Service Skill Standards.  The Kentucky Consumer Finance Association awarded him Kentucky Teacher of the Year in 1979. He  was awarded Kentucky Marketing Education Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Marketing Education Association 1997-98, 2002-03, and 2003-04.  

David was a member of Hardin Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon.  He also served as Blood River Baptist Association Treasurer from 1987 - 1994.
David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Teri Keys Lampkins; two sons, Andrew Christopher Lampkins, wife Christina Cass Lampkins, and granddaughter Madison of Fort Myers, Florida; and Scott Wesley Lampkins, wife Jerilyn Lampkins, and grandson Wesley of Benton, Kentucky; mother, Imogene Lampkins of Murray, KY; brothers, Danny Lampkins of Benton, KY; and Dean and Debbie Blakley Lampkins of Mayfield, KY.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Lampkins, Jr., and brother Donald Gene Lampkins.  

Funeral will be held at Hardin Baptist  Church at 2:00 on Sunday September 6th 2015 with Bro. Ricky Cunningham officiating.  Special music will be provided by Matt Sullivan.  Honorary pall bearers will be Trad York,  Michael Lawrence, and the deacons at Hardin Baptist Church.  Pallbearers will be Dr. Burton Young, Dr. Michael Adams, Dr. Brian Swain, Rep. Kenny Imes, Bro. Mike Breedlove, and Bro. Roger Pierce.

Burial will be at Scott’s Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Kory Cunningham officiating.   In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the missions' work at Hardin Baptist Church.
