Donald Wayne (Duck) Moore, 69, of Paducah died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Mr. Moore was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1964 to 1971.

Duck went to work for Walkers Boatyard when he was 19 years old. He would celebrate 50 years of service in the river industry this year. Ingram Barge had been his home away from home. He was a full time employee at the time of his death.

His knowledge of diesel engines and the river industry was admired by his friends and colleagues. He had earned respect of many, young and old, who have had the privilege of working with him through the years. The river industry and those who knew him will mourn his passing and miss him dearly.

Duck not only enjoyed being a part of the river industry, but also enjoyed spending time on the lake where throughout the years he had made friendships that would last a lifetime. He also enjoyed spending time in his garage building engines and making heirlooms out of wood that will be cherished for generations to come.

The beautiful memories made with his friends and family will live on forever. Duck was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, love, and compassion that will be shared through stories and seen through the eyes of all that loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Coley) Moore of Paducah; son, Donald "Dee" Moore of Paducah; two daughters, Tammy Holt and husband Mike of Paducah; Marla Alexander and husband Mike of Graves County; brother, John Moore and wife Margaret of Paducah; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Moore, Lily Moore, Anna Moore, Blake Holt and wife Lauren, Makayla Holt, Andrea Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Earl Moore and Mary (Herndon) Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on July 2, 2014 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Homer Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery of Paducah.
