John R. Brown

 John R. Brown, 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial.  Born on October 29, 1933, in Detroit, MI, he was a son of the late Russell and Erma J. Fluhrer Brown.

John was a graduate of Coyce High School in Kentucky, Murray State University, and the University of Arkansas.  He honorably served in the US Army from 1954 – 1962.  John was a College Professor at Agricultural and Technical College, Alfred, NY.  He was a member of the Christian Science Church, Columbus.

John’s person philosophy was live and let live.  

He is survived by his daughters, Jamie B. Todaro, Gold Beach, OR, and Johnna B. Rice, Knoxville, PA; grandchildren, Joseph and James Firnhaber; Tyler, Kelsey and Emma Glover; sisters, Sharon Mandrell and Dorthea Ann Doane, Martin, TN; brother-in-law, Donnie D. Duncan, Duncan; nieces and nephews, Buddy, Renee, David, Shelby, Ashleigh, Amber, Emely, and Jessica; special friends, The Burks, Mitchells, Griggs, Deborah Johnson, and Brenda and Donnie Duncan, 

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Modene Duncan Brown; sister, Dorthella Ann Boane and brother, Donald W. Brown.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3:30 PM, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the McDaniel Cemetery in Dexter.

The family will receive visitors between 1-3 PM, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray.
