John W. Stahr, age 90 of Fancy Farm, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his residence. 

 

John was born in Graves County on March 8, 1928 to his parents, Bernard A. Stahr and Mary Edna (Thompson) Stahr. 

 

John was a lifelong member of St. Jerome Catholic Church.  He was a  United States Army veteran who served his country honorably during the Korean conflict and also served as the Treasurer for the Mayfield DAV.  He retired from A&H Truck Lines after 22 and a half years where he drove the Mayfield route.  He also worked for the Fancy Farm Water Department where he worked in maintenance and loved farming and working on tractors.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Will Dee (Gallman) Stahr; four daughters, Sonia Stahr of Fancy Farm, Karan Carter and husband, Kenneth of Fancy Farm, Jill Stahr of Fancy Farm, Amanda Stahr of Cape Coral, Florida; one son; James Stahr and wife, Ginger of Fancy Farm; adopted son, Roy Wayne Blevins of Fancy Farm; one sister, Frances Netzer and husband, Bob of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Donnie Stahr and wife, Pearl of Fancy Farm; eleven grandchildren, Patrick Carter and wife, Beverley, Brandon Carter, Elizabeth Curtsinger and husband, Calvin, Cody Carter, Wilhelmina Greer, Jessica McClure and husband, Jason, Kevin Stahr and wife, LeaAnn, Keith Allan Stahr and wife, Charla, Jennifer Owens and husband, Daniel, Katelyn Newcom, Andrew Hayden and wife, Jorrie; ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Jean (Whitlock) Stahr; one daughter, Ann Stahr Newcom; one son, Keith Stahr; two brothers, Rudy Stahr and Justin Stahr.

 

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm with Father Darrell Venters officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Jerome Catholic Church Cemetery. 

 

Visitation for John will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Church with Prayers to be read at 6:30 p.m.
