Michael Poat, age 77 of Boaz, KY passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Michael was a member of St. John Catholich Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from AT&T Telephone where he served as Service Manager. Michael enjoyed hunting and his two times a year fishing trips to Canada. He had a love for woodworking and playing golf. Michael loved doting with his grandchildren and spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley L. Faughn; one daughter, Amie (Charles) Fountain of Lone Oak; one son, Gregory (Cynthia) of Ledbetter, KY; one sister, Charlotte Elkins, of So. Carolina; four grandchildren; Emily Fountain, Rebecca Fountain, Matthew Poat and Leah Poat.
Preceding in death were his parents, Joseph Oscar Poat & Frances Paulette Reason Poat.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Bruce Fogle officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, July 1, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Prayers and Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m.
