Nelson Eddy Shroat

Mr. Nelson Eddy Shroat, 77, of Murray, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017. Mr. Shroat was born on October 20, 1939 in Murray, KY to the late Jack W. Shroat and Josephine Dyer Shroat. He graduated from Murray High School in 1957 where he was an All State baseball player. While at Murray High he also played football, basketball and ran track. In 2003 he was inducted into the Murray High School Baseball Hall of Fame. Mr. Shroat was an all OVC baseball player for Murray State Thoroughbreds and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a Real Estate Broker and was a proud member of the Murray Rotary Club. He is survived by two daughters; Hilary Harris of Murray and Robin (Raymond) Lazarini of Spanish Fort, AL; a sister; Jackie Shroat McCarthy (Jay) of Memphis, TN; companion, Peggy Billington of Murray; six grandchildren; Hunter Harris, Luke Armstrong, Ella Harris, Abby Harris, Shelby and Sophia Lazarini; two nieces, Laura Gorman and Celeste McCarty and two nephews, Lance and Chris Lobo. The funeral service is set for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, 1804 Highway 121 Bypass North, Murray, with Rick Dye officiating. Burial will follow at the Murray City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Billington, Robert Billington, Hunter Harris, Luke Armstrong, Raymond Lazarini, Lance Lobo and Chris Lobo. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Murray Rotary Club. Mr. Shroat's family will receive visitors from 11 AM until the funeral hour at the Heritage Chapel.
