Mr. Oakley Warren Swart, 84, of Murray, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray.
Mr. Swart was born on April 5, 1935 in Lincoln Park, MI to the late Keith and Dorothy Bell Swart. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a Korean War Veteran serving from 1954-1958. Mr. Swart was an Aviation Electricians Mate 2nd Class E5 stationed at Moffett Field, CA and Barbers Point, Hawaii. Mr. Swart was a crew member for Military Air Transport, MATS. Presently he was Adjutant with American Legion Post #73 of Murray and Firing Commander for veteran's funerals. He was also a member of the Honor Guard. Mr. Swart and his wife, Monika, loved to travel, especially cruising the waters. Water skiing and snow skiing in Nevada and Europe were his hobbies but his favorite was fishing. He and his wife, his best friend, loved to dance.
Preceding him in death is a son, Todd Lee Swart, as well as his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife to whom he married October 16, 1971, Monika Swart of Murray; two sons, Scott Swart of Roseville, CA, Keith "Duncan" Swart of Roseville, CA; a daughter, Coleen Shaye Hughes (Scott) of Taylor, MI; a brother, Gary Swart of Taylor, MI; two sisters, Barbara McNutt (Robert) of Taylor, MI, Diane Martin (John) of Romulus, MI and grandchildren, Chelsey, Zachary Hughes and Calvin Swart.
A memorial service for Mr. Swart will be held next week at American Legion in Murray. Check with the funeral home next week for exact date and time.
