Ruth Purcell, 85, of Boaz, passed away at 10:38am Tuesday June 24, 2014 at her home. Ruth was born in Symsonia, on September 4, 1928. She was retired from Eli Lilly Drug Company and International Shoe Company. Ruth was also of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, Terry Allen Purcell and wife Marilyn of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Betty Miller and husband Bill of McHenry, Il.; one brother, David Waldrop and wife Kay of Boaz; three grandchildren, Lori and husband Thao Phan, Danielle and husband Matthew Ottinger, and Gavin Purcell and wife Elizabeth; seven great grandchildren, Chandler, Kailee, Tyler, Gabrielle, Mitchell, Lorissa, and Ellyana; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband Allan Purcell; parents, Theron Waldrop and Bessie Phillips Waldrop; one brother, Vernon Waldrop and two sisters, Audra Harrington and Emma Lou Waldrop.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday June 28, 2014 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Bolton Cemetery in Symsonia. Visitation will be from 11:00am until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
