Bobbie Nell Burkeen

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Bobbie Nell Burkeen, age 79, a longtime native of the Van Clave community in northeast Calloway Co. "Miss Bobbie" died at 1:15pm Monday at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital. She was born July 16,1933 in Calloway Co. to the late Hollin & Maymie (Paschall) Jones.

She was a longtime member of Elm Grove Baptist Church where she served as pianist and Sunday School teacher. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the family farm. She loved to help others and was always in line first to do so.

"Miss Bobbie " married Charles M. Burkeen on Dec. 19, 1953, and he preceded her in death March 27,2011. Her beloved son; James Graves Burkeen and her brother in law; Vernon Nance also preceded her in death.    

She is survived by her sister; Annie Jones Nance, of Murray, KY and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday at BLALOCK-COLEMAN & YORK FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Brad Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday at BLALOCK-COLEMAN & YORK FUNERAL HOME.
