Bobby Joe Murphey, 88, of Wingo, formerly of Akron, Ohio, received his heavenly reward on Saturday morning, March 3rd, 2018 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY.

Bob graduated from Garfield High School as a four sport letterman in 1948. Bobby is an US Army veteran of the Korean war conflict as a tank operator. He was a lifelong songleader and member of the Church of Christ. Bobby was an avid sports fan for any Cleveland, Ohio pro sports teams, and Ohio State and UK of Kentucky. His most favorite pastime was to spend it with his children and grandchildren, especially being a grandfather.

Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Sue; one son, Dale (Jolonda) Murphey of Mayfield; three daughters, Lindy (Daniel) Sledge of Franklin, KY., Bobbi Sue Jones of Wingo, and Melissa (Michael) Turner of Wingo; twelve grandchildren, Joe Don Cherry, Dusty Cherry, Breea Cherry, Kayley Murphey, Jesse Harmon, Hayley (James) Peters, Amanda (Matt) Dickerson, Bailey Jones, Chelsey Jones, Michael Dale Turner, Drake Turner, and Alex Turner; and twenty one great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H.B. and Mary Ruth Golden Murphey; and one granddaughter, Angel Turner.

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at Wingo Church of Christ from 12pm until the service hour of 2pm. memorial services will start at 2pm following visitation with Pastor John Puckett officiating.
