Mrs. Marlene Lively Shadowen, age 68 of Benton, KY died on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Facility in Paducah, KY. She taught English at Marshall County High School and Livingston Central High School for 34 years. Marlene graduated from Davies County High School, received her BS, MA, and Rank 1 above her Master's at Murray State University. She was a member of The Council of Teachers of English and the National Council of Teachers of English.
She was an active member of Briensburg Baptist Church.
Her hobbies were reading, scrapbooking, watching UK basketball, and most of all, playing with her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Shadowen, her mother, Margaret (Basham) Lively, 2 sons, Jake (Jondra) Shadowen of Benton, KY, Jarrod (Diana) Shadowen of Benton, KY; 5 grandsons, Collin, Wilson, Sullivan, John Case and Jarrod Cutter Shadowen; brothers, Steve (Mary) Lively, Owensboro, KY, Noel (Krista) Lively, Crestwood, KY, Jamie (Lynn) Lively, Greeneville, TN; 9 nieces and nephews; and 3 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Lively and brother, Donnie Lively.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at the Briensburg Baptist Church, Rev. Ricky Cunningham, Rev. Brad Walker, and Rev. Jamie Lively officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mexico Baptist Church Cemetery, Marion, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th Street, Benton, KY 42025. An additional visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Briensburg Baptist Church.
