Mary Lucille Lovan, 94, of Paducah, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was fondly known as “Sis” by her family and friends, and was an avid fan of Kentucky Wildcats basketball.  For many years, she was a member of the Democratic Women’s Club, and by her husband’s side she actively participated in many union labor-related functions, including the local AFL-CIO and the Paducah Labor Day parade.  In 1993, she was chosen as Democrat of the Year by the Alben Barkley Democrat Club and in 1998, was bestowed the title of Kentucky Colonel.

She is survived by her children, Dianne (John) VerPorter of Landrum, SC; Jim (Colleen) Lovan of Ledbetter, KY; and Trina L. Lovan of Paducah; six grandchildren, Maricia (Jason) Baird, Jason Brockman, Windy Collier, Jesse Sherrell, Seth Lovan and Scott Lovan; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Collier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Lovan; her son, Tommy; an infant daughter, Philis Kay; her brother, Lee Wolf; and her parents, Edward and Mabel (Jolly) Kennedy.

Visitation for Lucille will be Thursday, October 20th from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah.  A graveside service at Dixon Cemetery in Grand Rivers, KY will be held at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Steve Gorham officiating.
