Mr. Edward F. "Ed" O'Dell, age 101 of Calvert City, KY passed away the evening of Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Calvert City Convalescent Center, Calvert City, KY.

Born September 11, 1918 in Marshall Co., KY, Ed was a prominent member of Calvert City's notable group of citizens who worked to make things better for the citizens and community of the city.

Ed was born on the last year of the 'War to End All Wars', 1918 and later fought in WWII as an infantry sergeant in the Battle of the Bulge, ending the war in Czechoslovakia. He returned to Calvert City to his wife Kathleen and worked for TVA as one of the earliest tradesmen on Kentucky Dam. His empathy for people and hard work eventually led him to become a senior official of Pennwalt Chemical as the Director of Personnel. His civic pride led him to roles as city council member, President of the Lions' Club; organizer of the first PTA in North Marshall, past post commander of the American Legion post 236, Calvert Bank board of directors. He was a keen sportsman and basketball player in high school and his love of the sport led to his serving as referee in many high schools in the region, as well as his love for golf. His service to God was illuminated by his rarely missing a service at the Calvert City Church of Christ. Ed loved his wife of sixty-seven years, Kathleen Holland; his daughters, Kay Travis and Janna Jordan, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His honesty, charity and quiet counsel will be sorely missed-but his exemplary life never forgotten.

Surviving are his daughters, Kay Travis, husband Barry of Calvert City, KY, Janna Jordan, husband Bill of Calvert City, KY, and grandchildren, Alison Prince, husband Mark, Andrea Powell, husband Chad; great grandchildren, Connor Prince and Emma Powell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Ollie F. (Kingcade) O'Dell, wife, Kathleen (Holland) O'Dell, brother, Dorse R. O'Dell, and sister, Geneva Counce.
