David Eugene Council - February 6th, 1942 / May 13th, 2018

David Eugene Council was born Friday, February 6, 1942 on the south side of Paducah, KY in a place called Canaan. His parents were David Noah Council and Effie Beatrice Patillo-Council-Laslie.

David was a Baptist and a member of Rosebower Church. He was a Marine and served honorably from February 6, 1959 until February 6, 1965. He was a past President of Chapter X Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club and a member of Marshall County Elks Club. He loved farming and said the best time of his life was when he had a herd of cows and they were calving in the spring.

David worked as a Chemical Lab Technician at Air Products at Calvert City. He was a certified Industrial Firefighter and received his training at Louisiana State University. He was a writer and wrote several poems and a few short stories that were published and recorded in the Library of Congress. He was a past President of the Writers Group at Paducah Community College. He attained an Associate Degree in Business Administration and was owner of Ramada Coiffures Beauty Salon. He taught Cosmetology at the Academy of Beauty in Redlands, Riverside and San Bernardino, California. He served as a Coordinator and Instructor at Paducah Tilahman Cosmetology Vocational School. He taught at the Northern Kentucky Vocational School located at Covington where he introduced the Business Advisory Program. David was a past President of the "Kaintuck Muzzleloaders Gun Club" and was an expert shootist in competition. He won first place at the National Tomahawk throwing contest at Fort De Chartres in 1976. He came in third in the tobacco-spitting contest. David was a conservationist and watched the first five deer released in the Elva Bottoms on the railroad right-of-way in 1957. The deer came from Kentucky Woodlands (LBL) today.

David is survived by his daughter, Daveta Elaine Middleman, and her husband, Joel Middleman of Sharpe, KY; his son, David Michael Council, of Ballard County; his three grandchildren, Joelle Elaine Middleman "his prettiest granddaughter" and Joseph David Middleman of Sharpe, KY and Noah David Council of Calvert City, KY. And his daughter’s half sister, Michelle Young of Palma, KY.

David was also survived by his former stepchildren, Tim Fletcher, Angela and Cindy Belt.

David was preceded in death by: his parents David Noah Council and Effie Beatrice Patillo-Council-Laslie, his three brothers James Calvin Council of Langsville, Ohio, Joe Wilson Council of Redlands, California, and Daniel Burton Council of Sharpe, Kentucky, and his faithful border collie "Domino".

Funeral services to be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W. 5th St. Benton, KY with Karl Koebel officiating.

Burial will follow at Rosebower Cemetery in Reidland, KY.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the service time of 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home.
